AI Panelist
Thrilled to be a panelist on AI + Design at UX@CVS conference!!
We discussed:
- Using AI as a base, but always adding to it with your own expertise, insight and judgement
- While this tech is incredible, it's not replacing us. Quite the opposite - more than ever, designers need: deep understanding of the problem space, design principles expertise, ability to defend design decisions to improve vibe coded products and argue why they might not be the best solutions (even though they're bright, flashy + easy/fast to produce)
- Service Design is more important now than ever as apps are now talking to each other - start to think: how can we utilize service blueprints to think through and visualize these transactions between the physical and digital space?
- Our upcoming responsibility as designers may be to create ethnical and sustainable designs to educate users on proper AI usage techniques, reducing the energy resource impact
- Don't sleep on prompt engineering - it's the smartest/quickest way to get the highest level of AI output
- Please don't copy/paste directly from ChatGPT and send it to a co-worker - nobody wants to sift through an AI generated response - anybody can do that and it feels overwhelming for the person receiving it. This act is becoming the new "Let me Google that for you"... "Let me ChatGPT that for you" We want to hear your own opinion
- Apprehensive about AI? Start with a personal, everyday problem (outside of work) and have fun exploring how AI could solve for this by using AI... you may just create a Depop for Cat Toys
