How can we create innovative designs while still sticking to the design system?

I redesigned the Salesforce experience for users working with patients post hospital discharge. The current process was really messy and uncoordinated, leading to a lack in patient care.

Using the design system, I was able to bring innovation to a rather drab interface. The result? Everyone was thrilled, but mostly, the patients were able to receive the best quality of care.
