02 / How users find out about updates

To be able to build a better system, I first needed to understand how users prefer to be notified about new releases and other important onboarding information.

With this data, we know which platforms to prioritize. I used the Freelist method.

The Freelist Method:

  • Allows for the collection of a wide range of ideas and perspectives from participants

  • Provides a flexible and open-ended approach to exploring user thoughts without imposing predefined categories

  • Enables the identification of patterns, themes or commonalities within the data, aiding in uncovering user preferences and behaviors

  • Generates rich qualitative data that can inform design decisions and user experiences by understanding user needs and preferences
