hi, it’s nice to meet you
i’m Emily, a UX Designer + Researcher fueled by surfing, skateboarding + sunsets
I have over 9 years of experience in design + tech, from Viacom to NY Fashion Week to Bumble to ad tech to launching my own design studio to CVS Health.
While I've been a bit all over the map, both physically and metaphorically, I find beauty in challenges and problem solving.
No matter the industry, the core problem remains the same - solutionizing a way to create a better experience.
From starBut these days, my main focus is on user research and usability testing. I think it’s fascinating (and SO efficient) how you can unlock human truths to build a better product.
I'm one of those people who:
- when they have a problem, they think of a whole business idea to solve for it
- are a systems-thinker
- have a millions questions
And when I’m not thinking of ways to improve products, you can find me surfing, bombin' it down hills, taking pictures of sunsets or getting my PHD at TikTok University.

skincare accountability app
How do we use UXD to create a habit, while increasing sales + brand loyalty?

problem
A beauty brand thought they needed to launch a new night creme. They wanted to increase sales and attract new customers. Yet - they were struggling with how to differentiate themselves from the market - they dreaded just being another product at TJMAXX in 1 year.
process
solution
We learned through diary studies + open-question interviews that their clients didn’t want a new night creme, but the problem was that their clients lacked motivation + consistency to stick with their nightly skincare routine. We created an app to track accountability with different gamification options (rewards + friend challenges) to keep clients wanting to come back for more, while increasing sales, social giveback + brand loyalty.
cohesive experience from IRL to digital
This therapy center was highly successful IRL, but their online presence was severely lacking - how do we use UXD to create a cohesive identity to properly translate the company’s new-age and youthful, yet still professional, approach to therapy in the digital space?

problem
A counseling + treatment center reached out because they were not getting new cold clients. They felt their online presence was not properly capturing their youthful, new-age approach to therapy. There was a drop-off.
process

solution
Through competitive analysis + interviews, we realized that the website was completely missing the mark. We used card-sorting + wireframes to create organization and establish ed a central identity. We redesigned the entire website to be more welcoming, explain key differences + create more of a nuturing environment. After our redesign, the center saw an increase in site traffic + new client conversions.

problem
BossBrides is a revolutionary fitness, nutrition + lifestyle program for brides - yet how can we ensure the program will garner high completion rates?
process

solution
We created an ebook and then gave it to users to test through task scenario questions. By running this usability test, we were able to find flaws and fix them before publishing the program.
digital product to create passive income
How to we use UXD to create a paid yoga product when users could simply watch for free on Youtube?
(click each "+" to learn more)
problem
A yoga studio wanted to create an online video series. Yet, why would someone pay for a video series when they could watch on Youtube for free? How could they transform student's thoughts from a “yea, that would be nice to have” to a “YES! I need those videos now?!”
process
solution
We created a niche AND a demand! By understanding why students miss yoga class (even when they want to go!), we learned that students don’t like driving in the rain. By identifying this problem and creating a solution (A Yoga-When-It-Rains Video series), we were able to increase monthly yoga sales by 10% and saw an improvement in client retention + customer satisfaction (without the studio having to bring on another teacher / no additional overhead costs).
e-commerce website glow up
A beauty TikTok influencer had the 1mm followers, but 0 website conversions
(click each "+" to learn more)
problem
Dana launched her website, but then crickets. She had over a million Tiktok followers yet there were no conversions. She had the audience, why weren’t they converting into sales?
process

solution
We created an e-commerce website that was built to convert by strategically creating a storyline and organically inserting the items. We found users liked Dana for HER - yet her website was lacking her personality + ease of use. Dana’s sales instantly increased and her website is now a go-to source for recipes and inspiration.
